2017 Spring Newsletter - School Happenings
St. Cecilia is incredibly blessed to have so many wonderful students, parents, parishioners, faculty, alumni, and friends engaged in our school. We’ve had visitors from KPMG read and donate books, community leaders from the FOCUS St. Louis Leadership Class, and we hosted our first Morning Mingle, a morning of alumni and friends who had a tour and heard from students. We love having visitors!
We counted our blessings throughout Catholic Schools Week in the beginning of February. This is truly a week of celebration, fun, service, and reflection. The signature event is always the Staff vs. 8th grade volleyball game. The gym is louder for this game than at our fish fry! Overall, everyone showed great sportsmanship, and 8th graders beat the teachers! Other highlights from the week included a fundraiser for Leukemia and Lymphoma patients (where students collected over $1,300 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society), career exploration presentations from parents and community members, a field trip to the roller rink, and a staff flash mob. It was a wonderful week to pray together and celebrate the joys of Catholic schools.
We ask for your continued prayers as our 8th graders make their next step, having received their high school acceptance letters including SLUH, Visitation, Chaminade, St. Mary’s, Vianney, Bishop DuBourg, Notre Dame, CBC, and Nerinx. We have a wonderful group of 8th graders and are happy for their success. We also ask that you remember our 2nd graders as many of them will be making their first holy communion. Their first reconciliation was a wonderful day and there were many smiles. Finally I ask for your prayers as I am very excited to represent St. Cecilia on a panel at the NCEA Convention on the topic of Catholic Schools in an increasingly Hispanic Church.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers for our school community!
Blessings,
Mary Loux, Principal
