About

Welcome to St. Cecilia School and Academy! We are a Catholic elementary, Christ-centered, urban school helping prepare its students to proclaim the Good News and to translate Gospel values into action. The education received is important, both for the individual, in promoting the dignity of human life, and for society, in actively pursuing peace and justice. These skills and virtues are necessary for effective service to the community and for the development of a well-balanced person. Therefore, as a faith community, our vision is to provide an atmosphere in which each child can develop intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, socially, and physically.

A Message from Principal Loux

Dear Friends of St. Cecilia:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28) Our St. Cecilia community is focused this year on coming to Jesus in times of joy and hardship. We are blessed with the opportunity to come to Jesus in daily community prayer, weekly masses, and reconciliation. This year we have begun to use our beautiful and intimate chapel within the school building for individual class masses followed by donuts and discussion with Fr. Ochoa. This opportunity provides students with an opportunity to get to know Fr. Ochoa better and have greater participation in the mass.

We started the year in awe of God’s creation while observing the solar eclipse as a school community with eclipse glasses, online viewing parties, and prayer. Steve Templeton from KMOV even came out to talk with our 1st and 2nd graders about the eclipse and other weather patterns. Another successful event was our first Family Day when we celebrated the virtue of faith by sharing a religious item with our school families in getting to know one another. Each month we meet in mixed grade levels with our family groups and focus on one virtue to practice more diligently. We have also been blessed to have so many wonderful students, parents, parishioners, faculty, alumni, and friends engaged in our school community. Whether it be coming to our school to read to our students, coaching a sport, participating in a Saturday service day, or giving of your financial treasures---we know that it takes a community---and we are very blessed. Please feel free to come and visit us any time.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers for our school community!

Blessings,
Mary Loux
Principal
